Can you handle the truth??? Maybe not according to Jack Nicholson in A Few Good Men...though I digress. (smile)
Many people can't and don't really want the truth...even when they ask. Instead they really are asking for assurance that what they believe is true or right. However, in order for your business to succeed, you must always seek the truth...in order to succeed at anything in life this is an absolute must!
Surround yourself with people who care enough about you and your business to always give you their honest opinion...those who will give it to you straight and tell you what you need to hear in order to help you. Whether it's your employees or family and friends...a circle of 'YES' people will never get you anywhere. You want people to challenge you, your thoughts, your ideas...people who inspire you to do and be better.
You know the old saying, "if you are the smartest person in the room, you are in the wrong room", or "if you are the smartest person in your circle of friends, you need new friends". Whichever way you look at it, truer words have never been spoken. You cannot solve a problem with the same ideas, no man is an island and there is no 'i' in team. Just as it takes a village to raise a child (or an entire town these days), it takes a team to start, grow and maintain a business...whether or not they are on your payroll.
Malcolm X once said, "If you have no critics, you'll likely have no success". Words to live by...no matter your beliefs.
