Are you managing your stress or ignoring it?
Being an entrepreneur or small business owner is AWESOME...most times. If you are doing what you love, it is extremely rewarding & motivating. It is great being in the driver's seat and having direct control. But let's face it...it is also just plain hard and can be very stressful at times.
We all know stress wreaks havoc on our bodies...our minds, our emotions, our health, our behavior...EVERYTHING! So without managing your stress and proper self-care, it can be a recipe for disaster.
Make sure you are doing the following 7 things to help manage your stress:
Acknowledging it. Be honest with yourself about it or you will never do what's needed to deal with it.
Talk to someone. Open up and be honest. Talk to your spouse, significant other, family member, close friend, family doctor or therapist.
Take time for yourself. RELAX! Read a book, take a vacation (even if just a stay-cation), take up yoga or tai chi, get a massage. What you like to do...make time to decompress!
Watch your nutrition. When we are stressed, we are often not eating properly, not eating much at all or over-eating.
Stay hydrated...you hear on the news all of the time how often celebrities wound up in the hospital for dehydration. They are not the only ones...just the only ones we hear about on the news!
Get the proper sleep. Recent studies have shown getting the proper amount of sleep to be imperative to good health and directly linked to a magnitude of serious health conditions. It is as important as eating and drinking water!
Surround yourself with supportive people who love you and care about YOU.
We often treat ourselves like we are invincible. We take care of people we love and often ignore our own health and well-being. But the truth is stress kills...figuratively and literally. Although you may be a superhero in the eyes of your partner or kids...there is no such thing. Take care of yourself! It's the best thing you can do for you, your loved ones & your business...
